Block pallets are widely used in logistics and warehousing due to their strong construction and efficient handling design. The pallet gets its name from the solid blocks that form the base structure. Typically, a standard block pallet consists of nine support blocks — one placed at each of the four corners, one at the center of each side, and one positioned in the middle to provide additional support for the load.
These pallets are often referred to as “four-way pallets” because forklifts or pallet jacks can easily lift and move them from all four sides. This feature improves operational efficiency and makes them highly suitable for warehouses, shipping operations, and automated handling systems.
Block pallets can be manufactured with or without bottom deck boards, depending on the specific storage or transportation requirements.
Stringer pallets are among the most widely used pallet types, particularly in logistics and warehousing operations. These pallets are named after the stringers, which are the long support boards positioned between the top and bottom deck boards. The stringers provide the primary structural support for the pallet and are typically manufactured from strong wooden boards.
Stringer pallets are commonly referred to as “two-way pallets”, meaning forklifts or pallet jacks can normally access them from two sides. However, they can be notched or chamfered on the remaining sides to allow four-way entry, making them more flexible and efficient for material handling.
The most commonly used size for stringer pallets is 48” x 40”, but they can be customized and manufactured in a wide range of sizes to meet specific storage, transportation, and industry requirements.
